My story in the mountains begins with a journey into the unknown. I left my home country, Ecuador, in a small camper van with a bed and many dreams, without a fixed destination—just the certainty of heading south. I crossed into Peru and, almost without stopping, arrived in Huaraz, at the foot of the Cordillera Blanca, the longest mountain range in Latin America.
That is where everything began. In those mountains I found friends, inspiration, and the birth of my love for mountaineering. Inspired by a dear friend, Martín Contreras, I decided to join the High Mountain Studies Center with the dream of becoming a UIAGM guide. Yet life pushed me further on my journey: I crossed Bolivia, traveled endless roads, and eventually arrived in Patagonia.
In El Chaltén and Puerto Natales, home to the majestic Torres del Paine National Park, I discovered an overwhelming energy, one that transforms anyone who sets foot on that land for the first time. There, in the midst of loss and learning, I began again, working as a porter and a guide.
Each person I guided became a mirror, a teacher who told me exactly what I needed to hear in the moment. Through them, I slowly emerged from an inner darkness. And it was in the vastness of Paine Grande that I received a clear message: I was born to guide. Not only to open paths in the mountains, but also to walk alongside others in their own inner journeys, physical, mental, and spiritual.
The mountains showed me that I was meant to become a true leader and return to Peru to finish what I had once left unfinished. And so I did. Today I live in Peru, my home, sharing what I have learned and lived with every person who crosses my path.
I invite you to walk this trail with me, to explore, to laugh, and to listen to the whispers of nature. For it is there, in the silence and the greatness of the mountains, where life’s truest answers can be found.
